El Mirador is one of the most important Maya cities. Its enormous buildings dwarf those of other Maya sites. In order to reach this area you must hike for 2 days through the jungle. Trips usually last for 5 days, 2 days walking there, one day to see the ruins and 2 days returning. Most travel agents in Flores can help you arrange a guide and camp equipment. Prices vary a lot and it is advisable to shop around a little. |
