Just 9 km before Semuc Champey, is the
small town of Lanquin. The town lives on
tourism. The atmosphere is nice, the
prices higher, so bargaining a little bit will
be okay. The hotels and hostels are eager
to sell you tours. At the moment of writing
(March 2008) there are no ATMs in town or
nearby. Coban is the best place to stock up
on some money.Internet is avalible at the
main square for Q10/hour 7am-10pm .

Sights

The Lanquin caves
1 km from the town centre this is a huge
network of caverns, only some of which
have been explored. The caves are home to
thousands of bats which can be seen
leaving the cave every evening at sunset.

At the first t junction in town you will find
this pink coloured Hotel.
Double US$ 10.

El Retiro
A few hundred meters down the road from
Rabin Itzam is El Retiro. Little bamboo huts
and a restaurant beside the river. This is
the main backpacker place, its not for

good prices.
