The bay Islands The Bay Islands of Honduras. The Bay Islands offer cheap diving or just just kicking back and relaxing. Imagine a lush green paradise on a mountainous island with a living barrier reef surrounding it. Utila Nestling in the Caribbean Sea and located 29 km from the Honduras mainland port of La Ceiba. Utila island is 11 km long and 4 km at its widest and surrounded by vast coral reefs with abundant marine life. Its the smallest of the major islands. Roatan Roatan has blue skies, sun drenched clear turquoise water, and year round temperatures are between 20C and 30C. Roatan Island lies 45 km off the coast of Honduras and is 52 km long and 6 km wide. Roatan Island offers scuba diving, scuba certification and snorkeling. Guanaja Guanaja, the eastern-most of the Bay Islands, has , wide open beaches on its northern side, reef on all sides, and a population of quirky, English-speaking islanders. Christopher Columbus christened what is today Guanaja as the "Island of Pines" when he landed here on his fourth and final voyage to the New World in 1502. |
