The city of Granada was built in 1524 and is
one of Nicaragua's oldest Spanish cities.
Situated on the shore of Lago de Nicaragua
with connection, via the Rio San Juan, to
the Caribbean Granada was an important
trading centre and became a fairly rich city.

Nowadays it is an attractive town with plenty
of bars, restaurant and hostels. Boat
services from the docks provide access to
Las Isletas and Isla Ometepe on Lago
Nicaragua. Atms and banks provide all
services. they are all in the tourist area.
There are many internet cafes in town,
particularly around the main square. usual
price is around US$ 1 per hour. Many
hostels also provide free internet for
guests.
