| Nicaragua Leon |
The city of Leon was built by the Spanish in 1524. It was originally located on the northern shore of Lago de Managua but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1609. It was rebuilt at its present site, about 30 km away where it as made the capital of colonial Nicaragua until 1857 when it was transferred to Managua. It remains however, one of the most important cities in Nicaragua. The city still has many examples of colonial buildings, including many churches. The great cathedral in the main square is the largest in Central America. Internet is available all over the town center. The price starts from C$ 10 for an hour. Big foot has free wireless internet.
