Waspam on the Río Coco is located on the northeastern Nicaraguan border with Honduras. A 4,500 people live in the city of Waspam, the majority of which are indigenous Miskito people who maintain many of their culture and their own dialect, Miskito. Waspam is located 560 kilometers to the northeast of Managua. here are no bank or ATMs in Waspam. The border crossing is open but dont forget to go to immegration in Puerto Cabezas for visa stamps. Accommodation Hotel Las Cabanas Located off the main street. An ather one by the bus stop in the center of town. Transport Buses leave from Waspam to Puerto Cabezas. There are usually one to three buses a day the journey takes 3-4 hour. There are also boats that transport goods up and down the river. |
